Hallow Dear,

The very fact 74 days after missed period your health department has diagnosed that you are not pregnant (hope after urine pregnancy test or Beta hCG test), you are not pregnant.

After such a delayed period, the levels of hormones (Oestrogen and/or Progesterone) are increasing. Due to the increased levels of these hormones, there is water retention in the body. This water retention is maximum in the fat storing organs like buttocks, breasts, abdomen, etc.. This gives sensation of bloating in then abdomen.

At the time of expected menses and frequently after that the uterus does contract giving feeling of cramps in the abdomen. These cramps can be relieved by any pain killers.

For your delayed menses, I would advise you to take some Progestational medicine like Deviry for 5 days (with Gynaecologist's advice only). 4-7 days later, you should get withdrawal bleeding after discontinuing the pills. Your subsequent menses should be regular. If it still continues to be delayed, you may repeat the same medicine; however, after withdrawal bleeding, start some oral birth control pills cyclically for 3 cycles. This should regularise your periods.

Meanwhile, please start investigating yourself for such delayed periods. You have not mentioned your age. Around puberty, hypothyroidism commonly causes such irregularity in the menses. Please get your Thyroid function tests (T3, T4, TSH) done on your blood. Polycystic Ovarian syndrome is also a common cause for oligomenorrhoea. Ultrasonography and Blood examination for FSH and LH will find its presence.

Please report to a Gynaecologist if the irregularity persists.

I am sure, this gives you guidelines to overcome the situation.
