What Causes Blisters In The Throat And Mouth Post A Tonsillectomy?
Hiya I had a tonsillectomy 7 days ago and up until now the pain has been bearable with the help of meds, but the last 3 days I have noticed blisters appearing on the back of the throat and also on the back of the tongue, the pain is now getting to the point where even if i drink to a take a tablet etc its hurts that much it makes my eyes water :/ is this part of normal healing process please
It looks like there is infection in your throat post tonsillectomy that is the cause for blisters in the throat and as the back of tongue is close to the throat there is infection and blisters over the tongue also that can be most probably inflamed Circumvallate papillae..
So my suggestion is to consult your treating Surgeon or an Emergency room and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination can be done..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkillers along with specialised mouthwash like Magic mouthwash as it has numbing agent as well as antiseptic and steroid that will help in reducing pain and infection.. Do warm saline gargles.. Take more of liquids and avoid hard, hot and spicy foods as they can increase irritation and pain..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
