What Causes Blind Spots In Eyes?

My daughter went to have her eyes examined for new glasses and they said she had papilledema. She is 27 yrs old. She had no symptoms- no headache etc. She had an MRI which was normal . She does have an enlarged blind spot in her right eye. She has seen an neurologist and an neuro opthamologist. Both doctors have put her through many tests and are seeing her for follow up visits. She would like to take a vacation over seas. I am concerned about her flying.

Blind spot corresponds to the area in the field of vision corresponding to the exit of the optic nerve from the eye. It is natural and everyone has it. In papilloedema, the nervehead swells up and enlarges causing an enlarged blindspot.
I feel that till her treatment/investigations are complete, the vacation should be postponed.
regards.
