Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Bleeding Between Periods After Stopping Birth Control Pills?
I stopped taking my birth control a week a go midpack as we want to get pregnant, on Sunday evening I started to bleed again even though my period was 2 weeks a go, I have read you should stop at the end of your package, should I go back on it until the end of my package? Or just leave it as is? How long will this bleeding last? Thanks
I would say you need not worry about the rest of the package, as the bleed you are experiencing is a withdrawal bleed which is the same thing you would experience after completing the package. So you can just discontinue it the way it is.
The bleeding should last for about 3-10 days maximum, and then subside. After this you can speak to your doctor about calculating the most fertile days in your cycle and try to conceive on those days.
Best wishes.
