What Causes Black Vaginal Discharge While On Birth Control Pills?

I was put on the IUD and I had it surgically removed because it ended up in my stomach. In the may of 2016 I was put on the nexplanon. Well for the first couple of months I m experienced everyday bleeding Non-Stop so I went to my OBGYN and she put me on a substitute birth control pills to get my hormones under control and get me regulated. That works for a couple of months and then out of the blue I missed my period for November. Then December rolls around and here I am experiencing brownish Blackish discharge only and it s been going on for several days. Is this normal? In the past I was diagnosed with HPV cervical cancer cells. I was on routine to pap smears every 6 months until they thought that I would be fine to see what it was going to do. They seem to think that I was going to be ok and now I only see the doctor every year. Could this be and affect?

Hi,

When bleeding occurs between normal periods, there are many possible causes and most common is a hormone imbalance. While some causes may be easy to treat, others can indicate a serious underlying condition. Whether you notice spotting or heavier bleeding in between periods, it’s important to see your doctor for testing, diagnosis, and treatment options. Potential other causes of bleeding between periods include a growth in the uterus or cervix, stress, change in medication, miscarriage, vaginal dryness. Your doctor will also likely give you a physical exam, including a pelvic exam.

Diagnostic tests can help your doctor find the cause of the bleeding. Your doctor may draw blood to check hormone levels. Then right treatment can be recommended. Wish you good health.

Hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Wish you a good health.
