What Causes Black Out After Eating Meals?

Female 54, 5 feet, 139 lbs. Yesterday I blacked out after eating a small meal and one drink. Paramedics came, checked my heart and though everything looked fine suggested I go to hospital which I did. No heart issues whatsoever. I started wondering if my thyroid could be the issue. I've had an enlarged thyroid for years and occasionally have hormone levels checked. Never out of range, but I am perimenopausal and subject to hormone swings. Could my thyroid be at issue?
