My two year old daughter has fallen asleep tonight and has had a bowel movement of what can only be described as a black tar like stool that smells like sour milk. She hasn t woken up complaining of stomach ache etc but I m just wondering why this could be? Her stools have never smelt like this?!

Hi thanks for asking question.
Here you gave black stool
So cause may be bleeding peptic ulcer.
Omeprazole taken for it for few days...
Here you have offensive smell also.
So it could be infection associated ...Antibiotic taken for it....
Drink more water.
More fruits.
Cooked oat meal good as it contain selenium , vitamin E, zinc etc..and help in proper functioning of GI tract...

If still no improvement colonoscopy and biopsy need to rule out inflammatory bowel disease, non specific colitis or any malabsorption syndrome....
If needed h.pylori needs to be detected
....

Take care....
