I been belching for a year now and lost 10 pounds. I use to weight 130 and now 120 from my strct diet I been on. All my test is coming back normal but doctor still don't know what it is. I wan to take a cat scan or an upper barium swallow test. Would anything show up?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Belching alone is the problem hence the following things should be done: Upper GI Endoscopy. Barium swallow for esophagus and meal for stomach and small intestines. Stop aerated drinks and identify the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance your problems. Stress and anxiety should be kept under control as these increase the problems Take soft and bland diet. Rest when needed and avoidance of any factors that cause belching. Tests of blood and stool may be done on a safer side. CT scan of upper abdomen may help further to rule out any problems. PPI like Omeprazole and a motility regulator like Domperidone helps further.
