What Causes Back Pain Post An Abortion?

I got a s&c abortion when I became 6 233&/ pregnant, on July 21 of 2016 & got the copper IUD put in the same day, had brown tissue for a few days and then bleeding and tissue, since the two week mark I have had protected sex with my boyfriend. From aug 30- sept 5 I had light bleeding and then heavy with back pain, back to light bleeding again. It seemed like a period only heavier and more painful than I usually get. Now it is almost 8 weeks post abortion and I am getting a yellow discharge/tissue? And when I sit and spread my legs to pee I can smell my vagina which I don t remember happening pre pregnancy. Is something wrong or is this normal? It does NOT look like a yeast infection & isn t a UTI. Thank you!

Thanks for posting your query.

Its likely that you have a Pelvic inflammatory disease. It is a common complication that can arise with an IUD intact. It is associated with back pain, vaginal discharge, abdominal pain, irregular bleeding. I would recommend you to get an Ultrasound abdomen done to see if the IUD is still in place and to consult a doctor in your area for a proper physical examination and for further management.
