What Causes Anxiety?

I am a 61 year old woman. Ever since stopping about 80 ounces of diet coke per day I have had terrible anxiety. My body pulsates. The left side contracts to the center. My left temple sometimes feels full. Hard to think. I get tachycardia sometimes for an hour after eating.

Hello there,
You are suffering from caffeine withdrawal. Coke/colas have high amounts of sugar and caffeine that together become addictive and on withdrawal give symptoms of headaches, constipation, restlessness and anxiety. What you need to do is taper off caffeine. The ideal way would be to have green tea at the same time you used to have coke earlier. It delivers caffeine but at much lower levels. Then gradually reduce green tea till you have maybe 3-4 cups a day.

The increased levels of fluid in your body and the low doses of caffeine would gradually wean you off caffeine highs that you were used to.

Hope this helps, Thank you for your query
