What Causes Anxiety After Smoking Weed?

Hi there, every week for about two years now, me and my mates come together to smoke a few joints. Ive always felt how you should, a great relaxed feeling. Recently though when i smoke weed i have had a strange feeling in my ace that makes me very aware of feeling in one of my eyebrows and then subsequently that side of the face, usually right but then sometimes left. This leads to anxiety and me not enjoying myself. I have had a lot of stress for family and education reasons recently, could this be the reason? Many Thanks.

Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

I understand that you are worried about the anxiety symptoms that you have recently developed after smoking weed. Now, it is important to realize that cannabis (weed) can be associated with a variety of psychiatric problems, including anxiety disorders.

It does not always cause a relaxing feeling and long term use can often trigger or worsen anxiety. So, it is possible that the weed could be complicating / exacerbating the underlying stress due to your other family and personal problems. So, I would suggest that you refrain from using cannabis. If you symptoms still persist, they it would be advisable to see a psychiatrist for further professional help.

Wish you all the best.
