What Causes Ankle Lump And Muscle Contusion Of The Foot After Injury?

A few days ago I dropped an object on the top of my foot, a lump formed center about 21/2 inches from my ankle, new bruising has happened to just about my entire foot down along the inside and now there is a red streak extending to my second toe, do I need to be concerned enough to a doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, welcome to HCM. two possibilities we mamy suspect. Please get simple plain xray to rule out any fracture. If fracture is not there, then the surrounding tissues may be injured leading to swelling. it is called Sprain . Go to the doctor and get the ankle covered by creape bandage to immobilise the movements, so that minor injuries will get healed. Then you can go around. Dont wear tight boots. If ligament injury, iIt will take more than two weeks for you to recover. Till then dont do much work with that leg. Take care
