What Causes An Infant To Scream And Cry At Nights?

Hello doctor, My son is 18months old and he does not have sound sleep from past 9months. He starts screaming while sleeping for no reason. Also he is so used to his cradle that it is difficult for us to get him rid off. He needs cradle swinging continuous in the night. We are tired n looking forward for some medical dose which makes him sleep peacefully.

hi i understand your concerns, your child appears to be healthy apparently. Usually it is not adviceable to get preescriptions to get your child to sleep. This is supposed to be a very tender age for the development of the brain. So it is better if you try and search for alternative solutions.

On the other hand sleep is very important for the brain development.
Here are a few things that you could check, to ensure better sleep for your child.

>check the bedding, use 100% cotton(nylon and polyester usually feel rough for the sensitive skin of the baby), and not excessively dyed. Wash and sundry them and dust them out.

>ensure adequate space and ventillation.

>feed the baby food that can be easily digestable for dinner, and feed the baby a little early. to ensure adequate time gap before the child goes to bed.

>a bland diet at night is usually adviceable, not too spicy.

>pleasant music may help at times.

avoid egg whites, they are usual allergens that upset the stomach

even after these adjustments, if the child still doesnt sleep right please do not look for sedatives but get a consultation with the pediatrician, to check if the baby is having any other meatbolic problems etc,

thank you.
