Hello and welcome to HCM,
Pap test samples the lining cells of the cervix.
Pap test is done to look for any malignant or pre-malignant change in the lining of the cervix.
Any abnormality of the cells on Pap test can occur due to malignant cnditions or inflammatory conditions.
A biopsy confirms whether the abnormality is due to malignancy only or due to inflammation or any other cause.
If the subsequest test is coming to be normal, it implies that there is no abnormality.

Thanks and take care
