Hi,

The aggression that you have described is a symptom of his psychiatric disorder and can be controlled with antipsychotic drugs in proper dosage. Risperdal Consta is an antipsychotic drug and if it is not working, either the dose needs to be hiked or some other change is needed in his prescription. But please do not let reports of rare side effects influence you in choosing his medicines. A simple example is paracetamol, the most commonly used medicine for fever. If you google search for its side effects, you will find that fever is indeed a side effect of paracetamol!

Best wishes.

Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic

In schizoaffective disorder, he needs regular medications in form of antipsychotic and mood stabilizer. Risperdal consta is a long acting injection of risperidone and that would help to maintain drugs level in body. To control mood swing, he needs mood stabilizer. Better to consult a psychiatrist for that.

Thanks

Psychiatrist Dr. Seikhoo Bishnoi's  Response
Hello Welcome to HCM

He is suffering from Schizoaffective disorder and is on long acting injectable resperidone. Resperidone is a good drug for control of mood as well as psychotic symptoms. It is also free of serious side effects. It tend to decrease aggression. The aggressive behaviour he is having may be due to the disease itself. The mood symptoms seen in schizoaffective disorder may present with severe aggression towards family members or even towards self. Consult his doctor again if condition is not controllable.

Thanks.
