Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Acute Pinching Pain In The Forehead Region?
I have an acute - shocking / pinching pain (like touching your tongue to a 9 volt battery) that occurs 3 to 6 times per week (for the past 3 months) above my forehead - between the skin and the scull skull. Each shock lasts about 2 seconds. Notes: - No skin symptoms at all (i.e. discoloration, itching, rash) - Exact same area each time. - No past injury to the area. - Pain level consistently 5 to 8 on a 1 to 10 scale.
Your symptoms looks to me more like Trigeminal neuralgia. Trigeminal neuralgia also causes a sharp shooting pain in head over the left side. A sharp, stabbing pain that feels like electric shock around the face is a symptom of trigeminal neuralgia, a nerve disorder that most commonly affect older adults.
Multiple sclerosis, entrapment, and inflammation of the trigeminal nerve are all causes of trigeminal neuralgia. Along with the sharp pain you may also experience short bouts of intense pain located in one region or pain that intensifies over time.
Kindly consult a neurologist who will do detailed evaluation and help you with the condition.
Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you. All the best With warm regards Dr Sanjay Kini
