What Causes Acid Reflux In Person Suffering With Hiatal Hernia?

I have been having issues with heart burn or acid reflux. I do have a minor hiatal hernia and take 40mg omeprazole daily. At times my mid back hurts. None of the symptoms are terrible, just more often than not. It does seem to be worse after eating. Today for lunch I had 2 pieces of fried chicken, mac and cheese, and a diet coke. Been uncomfortable since - - 8 hours later

Hi,

Thanks for your question.

After going through your question, I can understand your concern.

Hiatus hernia is a condition in which part of stomach (part of intestine after food pipe which store food after eating) get dislodged above diaphragm (which separate abdoninal cavity from thoracic cavity) ie. In thoracic cavity.

Which causes abnormal pressure over stomach and acidity after having food.
That's why you get all these symptoms.

You should -
- Avoid heavy meals.
- Avoid spicy, oily food.
- Avoid immediate lying down after having meal.
- Raise head end of bed while sleeping.

In severe case surgical correction may be needed.

Hope this helps you, if so do vote.
