What Causes Achy Knees When Having UTI?

I have been on augmentin for 9 days for a urinary teck infection which the culture showed I had E. coli My knees are so achy especially when going up and down the stairs. Last night I noticed swelling in my knees. This morning I had pain in both knees and my left shoulder. Could this have come from the drug augmentin? A

Hello and welcome.

Dehydration caused by the urinary tract infection can cause generalised weakness and joint pain. But joint pain and swelling are also common side effects associated with augmentin use. Although, I would not worry too much about this as the drug is temporary and shall soon be discontinued once the infection is adequately treated.
