What Causes Abscess On The Buttocks?

HI there,

I got an abscess on my buttocks that got opened and drained by a doctor 2 weeks ago. Now, suddenly, another one started growing on the other side, near the rectum. How can this be? Are they contagious? Anything I can do? I'm scared its a disease!!!

I'm female, 28 years old, normal health, I do smoke though and varied diet.

HI
Well come to HCM
Thank for asking
I really appreciate your concern, it seems to be blood born infection which not the contagious but it has to be treated with higher antibiotic and surgical intervention has to be carried out properly all the pockets filled with puss needs to be drained properly, if this are not being done then chances of re-occurrence is very likely, I actually asked for the blood culture for proper selection of antibiotic, you can discuss this with your surgeon hope this information helps.
