What Causes Abscess After Removal Of Pancreas Tail And Spleen?

Relative had the tail removed from the pancreas and spleen removed six weeks ago. Return tothe hospital with abcess draining. Temp. 103.2 WAs discharged five days after surgery. Back in to the hospital 06/18/2013 with a Temp. 103.0 again. The surgeon desires to putin a stent. Why?

Hello! one of the common complications in pancreatic surgery is leakage from the area where a tumor is removed. The stent will help the pancreas to drain towards the intestine instead of draining towards the repair, since it is still probably swollen.
