Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 68 year old Great grandparent. I have adopted my 6 year old G grandson. We have had him for 5 years. I have lost 30 lbs. without trying. I am now 105 lbs. Should I be concerned about this. I am a very busy person, and I also had his 1 year old sister for 9 months. What else can make me loose weight besides stress?
You have not specified in how much time you have lost all that weight. If it is in a span of less than 6 months then yes it is significant weight loss. Abrupt, unintentional and rapid weight loss may be seen in the following conditions. 1) Catabolic states such as after a major surgery , burns or during recovery from major illnesses. 2) Cancer 3) Chronic infections such as HIV and Tuberculosis If your nutritional intake is the same as before and you have otherwise been in good health please get a thyroid function, and a blood sugar level done to begin with. Also consult your local doctor who can give you a thorough physical examination and guide you further to the next course of action. Hope this helps..
