Hi i been told I have extra systole . I knew my heart was beating funny.. My just listen to my heart I didnt feel any that time but he heard and told me that. He didn t do any other test ... Nothing.. Just gave me beta blockers. .. I hate my extra beats.. So I start takes pills but I read they could cause diabetes. Is my systole a will go away one day? Are they damaging my heart? Please help me
Thanks for posting your question on HCM! I can understand your problem, nothing to worry. Age, gender, and duration of the problems not mentioned. Had you been my patient I would have recommended ECG for detailed analysis. However beta blockers are found to be safe and effective in the treatment of such problem. Beta blockers do not damage your heart, but it is known to cause fatigue, difficulty in breathing (if you are asthmatic), slow pulse. etc. The cause for this extra beats should be found and detected by relevant lab investigations so kindly consult a cardiologist. Regards!
