What Causes Abnormal Heart Beats?

My heart feels like it stops and then beats hard 2 or 3 times almost like a delayed heart beat. It does this off and on every day for like the last 6 months. And I ll have random pain in my chest, armpit and sometimes in my lower neck. I went to er about 3 months ago they drew blood and took X-rays they said it was probably heart palpitations, what should I do?

Hi,

From your description it seems you have extrasystolies, it is a type of arrhythmia, when instead of normal contraction heart contract a little bit earlier and the following beat comes bit later. It can be caused from different reasons.
If they are not very frequent it can be quite benign. Anyway I would advise you to undergo holter monitoring. It is an examination, they give you a little device which records your ECG during the hole day. So the exact arrhythmia and it's amount will be clear. And the reason for your arrhythmia can be also clear

Hope I could help you

Wish you good health

Regards,
Dr. Baghdasaryan
