Hello, Mr. Chris! Thank you for your question and welcome to HCM. I understand your concern.
Well, with the highest probability, the sensation you get is a
palpitation, and the phenomenon is an extrasystole (skipped heart beat). It is produced as an electrical "spike" from an another site in the heart muscle, not from the natural pacemaker of the heart - the
sinus node. At the moment it happens, heart makes a short
pause and "resets" its electrical activity, where sinus node takes over, and produces a normal heartbeat, but more forceful and pounding. The sensation you get after this "reset" is palpitation (
shortness of breath and a single heart beat felt in your throat, like your heart wants to come out). Felt or registered rarely in a day, these phenomena are totally benign, and tend to happen even in physiological case. Even if they are present, they tend to disappear during exercise, just to reappear or happen in the resting state, after the exercise. With your description and your
heart rate, I think there is nothing to worry about, since these phenomena can happen to anybody, and they actually happen to anybody, some time in the course of life.
I hope I was of help. Best regards.
Dr. Meriton
