What Causes Abdominal Pain During Pregnancy?

I was confined at the ER last may 4th due to abdominal pain and they found out that i was pregnant and they refer me back to my OBGYN. At the ER my hcg hormones was 160 then i went to my on may 5th then they took another blood test and urine test my hcg increased to 260 then day after day they tested my blood and still my hcg went up it came to 380 then last last one was 470 but today i went to my ob and she did some ultra sound and she found nothing. My pregnancy is about 3 weeks already because last may 4 at the ER the dr. Told me that my pregnancy is too early like 1 or 2 weeks. Now its may 15th already and my OB Told me that i was having a miscarriage. But when they check my urine the result is still possitive. So they took more blood and tested it for hcg. They will call me tomorrow for the result. My question is am i really having a miscarriage? Until now im still having a very slight spotting.

Hello ma'am and welcome.

Based on your hCG levels it does seem like you are having a miscarriage. As for the ultrasound, I am guessing your doctor could not find your gestational sac which indicates a possible miscarriage. Pregnancy tests can return a positive result as it detects only hCG in the urine and blood and not the quantity. HCG can be in your system for a while even after the miscarriage.

I am sorry about this. Hope it helps.

Best wishes.
