What Causes Abdominal Discomfort And Constipation?

So I have been having a slight pressure-like pain in my lower left abdomen for the past day and a half or so, and last night I felt like I had to pass a stool but I haven't been able to, my first guess was constipation of course so today I went to the store and bought some magnesium citrate. Today all I had to eat was a cup of yogurt and a bowl of chicken soup. After taking the mag. citrate and drinking a couple glasses of water I have been passing very liquidy stool for the past 20 minutes or so. It burns very badly to try and wipe, I am guessing probably because of the irritation to my skin down there. There was no solidity to the stool at all, just liquid and a few particles of food from the soup. The main reason I am concerned is because I am still feeling some of the slight pressure in my left abdomen, and earlier I did get some stool out that was kind of flat and like a paste, and I was just concerned as to whether this could mean I had a fecal impaction or maybe some other sort of serious problem that I needed to go get looked at right away. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Gastroenterologist 's  Response
hi.
thanks for posting query at HCM

for constipation; advice is as follow:
- thrice daily , take two tea spoon (or one big spoon) ispagula with 200 to 300 mL water
-warm water intake as much as possible
- eat small meals (rich in fiber)
-eat plentiful "fresh oranges" and "pear "
- avoid COLD milk and yogurt and AVOID junk food(NO burger , pizza) altogether
- mix few drops of lemon juice in warm water. Drink on empty stomach, early in the morning, to aid in bowel movement
- avoid beverages / alcohol/ soft drinks
- do some exercise (push-ups etc) early in the morning

Hope bowel movement would return to normal and in case, "if no effect after 5 to 7 days, then visit gastroenterologist".

any further questions are welcomed.

hope to answer your concern.

wish you good health.

regards,
Dr Tayyab Malik
