What Causes Abdominal Cramps During Pregnancy?

I'm 35 weeks and three days pregnant. For the last few hours, I've been having severe upper abdominal cramps that radiate down to my lower back and pelvis in the form of pressure. It feels like I have a stomch virus or food poisoning, without the vomiting or diarrhea. Could I be in labor?
