What Causes Abdominal Cramps After Intercourse?

I lost my virginity on a friday and 4 days later i started to to get cramps in my lower adominal. Then the 5th day i had cramps (upper adominal too/a little) and bleed in the evening like spotting but it went away after an hour. Im fine now 7 days later. Just wanted to see if that was normal since i did bleed during that friday after intercourse and he was rough when putting it in. Just curious to know am i fine?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Bleeding could happen on first few occasions during intercourse when you lose your virginity due to breakage of membranous tissue in vagina called 'hymen'. Bleeding or spotting could continue to happen until the hymen and its remnant tissue is completely worn off.
Also, due to contractions of uterus, you could experience cramps or pain during this period.
It is nothing much to be worried about and all you need is reassurance. You may take analgesic medication if the pain is difficult to tolerate.
Kindly take care of personal hygiene.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
