Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I scraped my hand pretty badly on the road Friday afternoon so I cleaned it with warm water, then sprayed Peroxide on it a few times before putting an off-brand Neosporin with a band-aid over top. I ve been repeating this at least once a day all weekend but every time there is a yellowish, gooey substance over the scab. Is this normal?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for asking I understand your question. The yellowish gooey exudate on your hand injury is sign of bacterial infection.. probably due to not drying the wound after washing it. You should wash, pat it dry with a sterile tissue paper & apply soframycin skin ointment to it. It will be okay in few days. Thanks.
