What Causes A Small Lump Emitting Bad Odor In The Neck?

I had this area on the nape of my neck for over a year. It felt like a little bead under the skin. I could smell a sour odor when I rubbed my neck and I thought that it was draining and was unable to get anything to come out. I went to the doctor to have it looked at and was told it wasn t anything to worry about and that they couldn t get it to drain. The area never went completely away and has began growing in the past few months. Tonight I smelled that odor again and had my husband squeeze it and it began drawing thick brown puss. It now very sore but smaller. I have cleaned the area and applied antibiotic ointment on it. Will this be enough or should I return to the doctor s office?

It look like you have a boil on the nape of neck.
Try to maintain cleanlyness at that side.
Avoid frequent touching to that.
Drain the pus , clean with betadine and apply povidone cream.
If you have fever then need to take the antibiotic otherwise it will be ok.
