Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a 4 year old grandchild who has recently developed a significant limp in his right leg. He does not appear to be in pain except when you try to straighten out his knee. He had a similiar episode approximately 2 years ago which progressed to the point he had difficulty walking however he did not appear to be in pain. This episode lasted approximately 2-3 days. His current problem has been ongoing for 2 weeks. The way he holds his arm when he walks reminds me of a child with a brain injury. I am concerned there may be some neurological problem causing his intermittent symptoms.
Well, a neurological problem will seldom give episodic limping or difficulty in straightening out the knees. This sounds more like a local injury followed by voluntary protective stiffening of the knees. Anyhow it is better to have him checked by a paediatrician.
