What Causes A Rash With Severe Itching On The Genitals?

I have an irritating rash on the inner and outter lips of my genitals its not red or boily but shaving only made it worse and I'm not certain its an infection only because its only affecting this particular area. Sex feels fine, discharge looks normal but the itching has persisted and started after my period.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that the rash may be due to intertrigo which is a rash that tends to occur in the areas prone to friction and moisture.

This includes the groin/inner thigh area, under the breasts in women and in the axilla.

Treatment involves: (1)preventing friction by separating the surfaces with cotton or linen cloths
(2)use barrier creams eg zinc based creams
(3)use a steroid cream - this would help to reduce the inflammation and itching. May be available over the counter
(4)in some cases a fungal infection may also occur and anti fungal cream may also help eg miconazole, econazole, ketoconazole

I hope this helps
