What Causes A Pus Pocket At The Back Of The Throat?

Hi, I have had a sore throat for about 6 days, and 2 days ago got a strep test which came out negative. You can see the infection in my throat, which is only on the left side, and is also just one spot (it looks like a puss pocket). I am being treated with a Zpack, but after being on meds for 2 days, it has not gotten significantly better, but also has not gotten worse. Does this sound familiar to you at all?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pus pocket at the back of the throat which seems to be due to tonsil stones (tonsiloliths) and tonsillitis. It could be due to poor and compromised immunity of body as well.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and start treatment after thorough examination. You should go for blood test examination as well. Usually treatment is not necessary, as tonsils get cleared themselves as well after preventive measures. You should do warm saline gargles and suck on lemon candy.

You should avoid intake of cold carbonated beverages.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
