Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a lump inside my tongue that hurts to touch or eat with . It has appeared a few times over the last few months off and on. It is in my tongue and has a blue/purple color to it. Almost like I bit my tongue or something. I have in the past bit my lip and/or my tongue when chewing, talking, eating..etc. I also have head cysts over the last 40 years removed from my lower lip and and my back and back of my neck. I noticed my right ear is starting to hurt a little too. The bump is on the tip of my tongue to the right side.
As per your complain a purple/blue lump on the tongue that is painful and occurs on and off seems to be most probably due to to traumatic injury to the tongue leading to HEMATOMA formation..
Hematoma is a harmless tumor like mass formed due to spillage of blood from ruptured blood vessels leading to accumulation of blood into the soft tissues forming a lump..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigation like FNAC if needed can help in diagnosis..
As of now if there is pain apply numbing gel conaining Lignocaine over it.. Take a soft diet and avoid spicy, hard and hot foods..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
