What Causes A Painful Bump Between The Ear And The Skull?

I have pain behind my left ear. There is a small bump between the top of my ear and skull but there is a swollen ridge running along the skull behind the ear as well. It hurts more when lying down (pressure) but is achy all of the time and sore to the touch. Possibly another bump that is more tender towards bottom of ear but not the ear - behind the bottom 1/3 of the ear on the skull bone

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of infection of hair follicles (boils) is more.
This kind of infection is commonly seen in diabetic patient. So first get done sugar levels to rule out diabetes.
Also consult doctor and get done clinical examination of lumps.
You will mostly improve with antibiotics, painkiller and anti inflammatory drugs.
If not improving after 1 week then surgical removal of lumps is needed.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
