What Causes A Mucus Like Discharge After Sexual Intercourse?

Hi I had sex with my husband new years eve and I instantly had lots of mucus with streaks of blood in it. The problem is that it has been going on for 3 weeks now and hasn t stopped. I am on the Mirena and have been for over a year with no problems. I can t get into my Dr till February 1st for insurance reasons. Should I be worried???

based on what you said, it is probably sexually transmitted infection with suspected gonorrhoea and/or chlamydia infection. It is necessary to seek immediate medical assistance if you experience lower abdominal pain as it can lead to infection of your tubes and uterus called pelvic inflammatory disease.

Treatment is not only necessary for you but also your husband to avoid these problems again in future.
