What Causes A Lump On Bruised Thigh?

i fell on my bicycle about three weeks ago. There was a huge bruise on my thigh where the seat pinched between the asphalt. The bruise is almost gone, but there is a lump the size of an egg and it's tender. Could it be blood clot and should I see a doctor?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Its not a blood clot. Most likely it is a blood collection in the soft tissues (hematoma). Due to recent injury some veins have been ruptured and some amount of blood appeared in the soft tissues. As it is quite large, it can not be left alone. As it is tender, may become infected and turn into an abscess.
That is why you should consult general surgeon with it. It should be drained.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
