i am a bit worried as i have noticed a small external lump near my anus. I'm 7 mnths preg and struggling physically. Haven't been able to look at it. It doesn't feel particularly hard/soft, not painful, only a little if pressed? My father passed away with bowel cancer so things like this panic me plus want to know that it won't affect pregnancy ...
I understand your concern and I will do my best to put your mind at ease. The most likely trigger for what you are describing is a small hemorrhoid: a swollen blood vessel near the anus due to the increased size of the pregnancy. They can certainly be annoying and uncomfortable but are usually harmless and get better very soon after the baby is born. It is very unlikely to be anything bad (tumor, warts, cancer) but you should have your doctor check at your next visit: I fully expect they will give you good news. I am so sorry about your dad. Colon cancer has a slight tendency to run in families and most gastroenterologists recommend a screening colonoscopy about ten years younger than the age at which a relative is diagnosed. Good luck with the pregnancy and I hope this helped.
