What Causes A Lump In The Groin?

I am a healthy 27 yr old male and noticed a lump on my front groin area. It is small (size of a dime approx) but tender to the touch. The skin peeled on it a bit and I m wondering if it is possible that it is due to irritation from rubbing against my belt buckle? It does not appear to be an ingrown hair.
