What Causes A Lump In The Armpit?

i have this weird pea sized lump under my arm i thought it was an ingrown hair because it was red and quite painful but it has some weird features that worry me. So first of it was quite hard has barely any give at all. 2nd it feels like most of the body of whatever it is is below the red bump on the top of the skin. It feels like its only pushing above the surface a little but theres this hard painful ball underneath it that i can feel if i press on the side of it. (Sorry i have trouble describing it). Ive been putting some pimple cream on it and the swelling on the top of the skin seems to be going down and the pain seems to be lessening but that hard ball doesnt seem to be changing too much. Im going to doc tommorow. Worried its some kind of lymphoma just curious what my symptoms seem to point to

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
This is most commonly an abscess or ingrown hair infection and it should improve on antibiotic course. Also, it may be swollen lymph node due to some infection and malignant issues are the last things to think of but should be ruled out if there is growing and increasing pain. At this point you should take antibiotic course and do ultrasound.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
