What Causes A Large Bump Below The Knee And On Top Of Shin Bone?
i have a medium to large size lump a little bellow my knee cap on the outside of the top of the shin bone near where the pateller tendon attaches to the tibia (tibial tubercle). It has been there for just over three weeks and started to form about 6 days after i kneeled on a small screw at work. at first i thought it was a bacterial infection and when it didn t go away after about 2 weeks i saw a doctor. the doc thought it was gout but i read alot about gout and it doesn t seem to make any sense, i m not sure if the tendon got damaged and its just a fluid buildup or if it s a bacterial infection, or if the doctor was right and it s gout. What should i do?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have large bump below the knee and on top of shin bone. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like baker's cyst , hematoma , osteoarthritis , lipoma , edema, septic arthritis or sciatica. I would suggest you to apply warm compresses on on knee and shin and keep your leg elevated . If condition doesn't get well then consult orthopedic surgeon for muscle and bone problem . Doctor may examine physically , order CT scan along with MRI .Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory along with physical therapy . Doctor may also recommend surgical excision.
