Dear Dr. Andrew Rynne: I have totally gone through menopause and havent had a period for three years now. I miss my menstrual cycle and I want it back. What can I do to have them safely returned to me. I have not felt well since theyve stopped. Have a Blessed Day, Gwen Reynolds

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Due to the hormonal changes in the body, every woman would attain menopause (stopping of menstrual periods) and it is a natural process. Once it is done, there is no possibility to attain the cycles back.
The feeling of illness what you are experiencing seems to be more of psychological one. Also, some of the hormone changes could be making you feel so.
Kindly get your blood tested for FSH and LH levels. Based on the report, you might be needed to go for estrogen supplementation by means of hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
Kindly consult Gynaecologist with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
