My son has a circular burn looking type irritation to his leg, it started about the size of an pencil eraser and is now about the size of a orange in diameter, the edges are blistered and keep peeling causing it to grow, it has been about a week, not sure what this is????

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi

Your son seems to have developed a superficial bacterial infection of skin called impetigo .

Keep the affected area clean and dry .
Wash the affected area with lukewarm saline water twice daily.
Apply a topical antibiotic cream like neosporin or mupirocin over the lesion twice daily.
Do not apply any other cream or oil over the affected area.
