What Causes A Bulge In The Groin Area?

I have a slight bulge in my groin area on my right side where my pelvic and hip meet. I was moving 40 lb bags of rocks in garden and then a few days later noticed the bulge. In april I went to an orthorpedic dr for hip discomfort in the groin area. He saw nothing out of the ordinary possible artheritis and to cut back on the gym work. I weight lift and do palates. Should I be concerned? Did I strain something in the groin area? or is this more serious?
