What Causes A Broken Blood Vessel In An Eye?

Hi Dr. Rynne. I pulled something in my back earlier today. I do have spinal cord issues and lumbar disc issues that I have already had surgery to correct. I have been off my feet most of the day and just noticed that there is a broken blood vessel in my left eye. I did not fall, or poke myself today nor has there been any issues with my eyes. Could the pull earlier today have caused the broken blood vessel? I am experiencing pain on my left side and my hip, however I am sort of used to that and I take medication (only if absolutely needed) for this. I rarely use this medication as I will typically take Advil or Tylenol.

this can result from strain or lifting wait the blood vessel can burst spontaneously. it will stop of its own. does not require any treatment. at-best can apply some cold compression.
