What Causes A Blister On The Leg With Yellowish Discharge?

Hello, today is Sunday & I got a very bad sunburn at Myrtle Beach on Monday (possibly sun poisoning/at least 2nd degree burns) on my legs. My left shin developed a very large fluid filled blister on Wednesday. I have been applying silver gel & coconut oil liberally/daily. However, the blister now has an opening on one side & very thin runny yellow fluid is leaking out. The blister almost looks like an egg yolk sitting on my shin. The skin underneath the opening of the blister looks like a burn victim s skin growing back (reddish/pink). I do not have any fever, but both legs are sore and sting at times from the burn. Does yellow fluid always mean infection or is this a normal part of the healing process?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history you are having a furuncle.
My treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
