What Causes A Black Lump On The Tonsil Along With Sore Throat?

I have a blackish blue lump the size of a pea above my right tonsil, tucked behind the anterior faucial pillar. Mild sore throat, no fever. I have had 2 colds in the past month with lots of coughing due to asthma. I had checked my throat a couple days ago and did not see any concerns. I checked it today due to feeling something was stuck near my tonsil, only to find this new lump.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have black lump on the tonsil along with sore throat . It seems that you are suffering from Bacterial throat infection also known as Strep throat and the symptoms of black lump on the tonsil along with sore throat that is Pharyngitis seems to be due to it. You can gargle with antiseptic mouthwash and it will maintain oral hygiene and reduce inflammation. For confirmation consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Throat swab culture can help in diagnosis.For reducing infection you can be advised a course of antibiotics like amoxicillin or penicillin , anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and using a humidifier in your room can help.
