Hi, I have arthritis and depression, I take naproxen and sertraline. the last week and a half I have suffered with the most excruciating pain in the middle of my chest, especially after eating, the last couple of days I have vomited and I find it easier to rid myself of the pain if I make myself vomit, I am also overweight, I only eat maybe twice a day, I also suffer with diverticular disease. any help will be appreciated, thanks

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of suffering from arthritis, depression, taking Naproxen and Sertraline, excruciating pain in the chest on taking food, relieved by vomiting. Also have diverticular disease.
My thoughts:
The pain in the chest after food and relief by vomiting for the last one and half weeks indicates that you have severe acidity and GERD.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Soft bland diet in small frequent quantities.
PPI like Omeprazole and Ranitidine.
Domperidone to facilitate the motility.
Antacid every hours when you are on empty stomach.
If no relief to go for upper GI Endoscopy and carry on further management as may be suggested by your Gastroenterologist.
