What Caused The Elective Abortion?

I am 28yrs old with height 5 feet 4 inches and weight 76. I have a kid of 6 yes and planning for a second kid. Recently i was conceived and consulted a doc. As my cycles are irregular she took a scan to confirm no of weeks. She told me that the baby was just less tahn 4 weeks but according t my cycled it should be more. We waiting for 10 days and went for a second scan. Still the scan result shows the same and doc suggested me to go for abortion as the there is no growth in the baby. We did the same. Can any one one explain the reson behind this. I have thyroid problem and i am under medication. Is it some thing related to PCOD??

Hi,
The exact cause of the abortion can be known by examining the abortus. Possibilities are genetic defects, hormone deficiencies and blighted ovum. Pre-pregnancy hormone status has definite effect. PCOD can cause hormone imbalances and ovulation is most often at fault and if this happens, luteal phase defect is usually seen. In your case, hormonal imbalances have to be suspected as you are overweight and have irregular cycles. Thyroid defects cannot become a problem once they are corrected. Further investigations can help diagnose if you have PCOD. Hope this helps.
