What Casues Rash And Swelling On Knee?

My husband has a swollen knee which is hot and there is also a rash . He was playing football with my son. I have given him anti inflammatories but the rash is going above his knee . He also has a temp which I have brought down with myprodol. I can t see any puncture wounds so don t think it s an insect bite but maybe arthritis?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have rash and swelling on knee. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like torn anterior cruciate ligament , meniscus tear , rheumatoid arthritis , infection , gout or bursitis. I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI along with physical examination . Doctor may prescribe muscle ralaxant , methotrexate , anti inflammatory or physical therapy . Doctor may also recommend surgery in case of baker's cyst . Doctor may also refer you to dermatologist for skin problem . For now apply warm compresses , take anti histamine like benadryl and take proper rest.
